Seattle!

So, we have made it through our first week in Seattle!  It has been a lot of fun.  The apartment we are staying in until we find a permanent place is in downtown Seattle.  It's pretty cool to be living right in the heart of a city.

Here is the dining area of the apartment.

The cute little kitchen.

The view of the Space Needle from our dining area windows.  Pretty cool.

Our first weekend here was pretty laid back, since we had been packing and driving, we wanted to take it easy.  On Friday, Cody drove me to the Microsoft campus to look at where he would be working, and it reminded me of a college campus.  It was pretty cool.  Since we had the dog with us, we decided to take her for a walk on this little trail we found while driving around.

This picture was taken from Cody's phone, so it's not the best quality, but I still thought it was pretty cool.   Here is another picture from Cody's phone of the lake.  It was a cloudy day (surprise!) but still a really nice day.

On Saturday it was sunny and beautiful, so we walked the dog down to Pike's Place.  There were so many people, Vega was kind of freaking out, in a good way.  I seriously think she thought they were all there to see her.

One of the entrances to Pike's Place.  For winter, they sure have some green grass.

Vega looking over the bridge at the cars.  She thought it was pretty cool.

Sunday was a bit more rainy, so we hung out in the apartment and watched football.  Okay, I read some Harry Potter, and Cody watched football.  Then Cody went to his first day of work at Microsoft on Monday.  He said that the first day was just orientation, so he didn't do too much, but on Tuesday he got into his office, meet with his boss, and co-workers.  So far, he really is liking it.  He says that the drive isn't too bad, but today he took The Connector, which is a little bus that Microsoft provides to take people to work.  Since it is small, Cody had to reserve a seat, but they have Wi-Fi on the bus, so you can work if needed.  Overall, our week has been pretty good.  Our next goal is to find a place to move into.  We have some promising ones to go check out.

Here are just some random silly pictures of Vega.  She loves looking out the window at the people walking on the street.

Silly Vega!

After a long weekend, here is Vega all curled up in the blankets, with a pillow so asleep, I had to work to wake her up.  You can barely see her she is so curled up in the blankets.

This was just a beautiful morning, so I had to take a picture.

We don't have too many plans for this weekend, but I am sure that we will have fun, we always do.  I will try and get more pictures of Cody and me for my next post.  :)

The move and drive...

So much has happened since my last post, and it hasn't even been that long!  This post might be a little long, so I'll say I'm sorry now.  :)

The first thing we had to do was fix up all the last minute things to our house.  There was nothing major to do, but all the little things sure added up.  We had to have most all of the things finished by that Wednesday night, because the packers were coming Thursday morning and would be packing up everything including Cody's tools.  We finally had to call on my dad's help for a few things, just because we were running out of time.  That helped a lot.  So we stayed up until about 1:30am on Wednesday to try and get everything finished, and woke up at 6:00am on Thursday to get showered and finish packing up the things that wouldn't be going to storage.  The packers were there at 7:45am ready to go.  After working so hard the last three days, it was kind of a struggle for both Cody and I to have to just sit back and relax.  As we watched them pack up all our stuff, we both realized, hiring packers is totally the way to go.  They pack things so well, and you don't have to do anything, in fact, I was able to finish reading my book.  Here are some pictures of our house filled with boxes.

Our bedroom and clothes all packed up.

Our living room and couch.

Our kitchen.

Our downstairs family room.

Cody's office.

They did leave our bed so we had somewhere to sleep that night, which we did, falling asleep at 9:30pm.  We were exhausted, incredibly for not doing much that day.  On Friday morning, the movers showed up bright and early.

Here is the truck that would be hauling our stuff.
Yeah, that's pretty big.

Vega and I just hanging out while the movers take our stuff.

Vega and me taking a nap.  Watching people move our stuff sure makes us tired.

Our empty house. (Vega's tail got in the picture in the bottom)

The empty downstairs.

We still had a few things to do around the house, so we stayed at Cody's sisters house Friday night.  It was so nice to just hang out and do nothing.  Her guest bed was either very nice or we were just so tired, but I don't think either of us even moved all night.  We were out as soon as our head hit the pillow.

Here is Cody and Anna sleeping on the recliner at Jami's house.  Of course she is holding tightly to her horse.

After finishing things up that Saturday, we left our house.  It was a very weird feeling knowing that this was that last time we would be leaving the neighborhood that we had lived in for the last four years, but we were also so happy and excited.  We then spent the next few days with our family and friends in Logan.  Of course we went skiing at The Beav, and tried to hit up all the favorite food places in Logan, such as The Italian Place, Fredrico's, Wok on Wheels, and of course Mike John's ribs.  Okay, that isn't a restaurant, but my father-in-laws ribs are so yummy!

After a few days of relaxing and fun, we got all packed up for our long drive to Seattle.  We got up early Wednesday morning to say our goodbyes.  There were a lot of tears with both families, but we know they were all still very excited for us.  Then we hit the road.  We drove to Pendleton, OR, which was about an eight hour drive from Logan.  We stopped a few times to let the dog out and take her for some short little walks.

Here is Vega sleeping in the cramped car.  She seemed pretty comfy though.

By the time we were in Pendleton, Vega was so ready to be done with the car.  We were kind of worried on how she would do in the hotel, but she loved the king sized bed.  She got right on and curled up to go to sleep.  Driving must have made her tired too, because we had a hard time getting her to move in the morning.

We had only four more hours left before we made it to Seattle.  So we got in the car once more and began our drive.  Finally, after weeks of preparing, and days of driving, we had made it!  We found our temp housing which was in the middle of downtown Seattle (and kinda some scary driving and a lot of one way roads) and brought our stuff in.  We are so excited to start our new adventure.

As this post is already long enough, I will post our Seattle pictures on the next blog post.  Again, sorry this is so long, but it is so worth it.  :)

Bittersweet Weekend...

This weekend we went up to Logan to visit with our families.  We decided to "kidnap" our niece and take her with us so she could visit with her Grandma, Buppa, and Uncle JJ.  Saturday night we went to The Factory with Cody's parents and brother JJ and my parents and brother Brady.  They seriously have the best nachos ever.  When we got finished eating, it had started snowing like crazy!

Here is Anna and her Uncle JJ catching snowflakes.

Anna had to see the balloons that were outside in the snow.

Here is another cute one of Anna and JJ.

On Sunday we went skiing at Beaver Mountain.  It was so cold.  Laurie and I stayed and played with Anna, which was better than freezing outside on the lift.

Anna had to try on the goggles and thought they were pretty cool.

Vega loves to go skiing!

Anna and her Buppa.  She kept putting the helmet on backwards.

After a long day of playing, both puppy and baby were very tired...

Even tho is was so cold, it was a great day.  It was my wonderful mother-in-laws birthday-Happy Birthday, Laurie!-so we celebrated with sloppy joes and carrot cake at the mountain.  It was awesome.

It was a very bittersweet weekend, because we knew that we would be leaving soon.  As excited as we are to go up to Seattle, we love our families very much.  They are both just so wonderful.

Anna with her Aunt Laci and Uncle Cody.

I will update things on how the move goes.  They will be taking our stuff this Friday.  Hopefully things go smoothly.  :)

I did it...my first blog post!

Hello all!  I am starting this blog to keep everyone posted with the going ons in our life.  As most everyone knows, we are getting ready to move to Seattle because Cody got a job with Microsoft in Redmond, WA.  It is such an amazing opportunity for Cody's career and an amazing opportunity for both of us to live somewhere outside of Utah.  We are both so very excited, but also sad to move away from our friends and family.  We are so close with everyone that it is very bittersweet.

I will make sure and post a lot of pictures of Seattle for everyone.  It is so beautiful up there and I'm excited to explore the area.

I know this is short, but hopefully I will learn lots and be able to make this super cute and fun for everyone to want to read and keep up with.  If anyone has any tips on anything about blogging, please share, as I am just learning.
