Olympic Sculpture Park

The last couple of weeks haven't been too exciting here, which is why it has been awhile since I have updated things. We have just been taking it easy and enjoying the many restaurants that are around our apartment. It has been pretty amazing to just walk a few blocks in any direction and find an amazing place to eat. We found an awesome place for brunch called Lola, and if anyone comes and visits us, we will be sure to take you there. We got mini, fresh doughnuts for appetizers and they were AMAZING! They were served with cranberry jam and this delicious vanilla cream called mascarpone. Yummy! And with almost every meal, they serve their own kind of mashed potatoes. They are baked, then flattened, flash fried, and finally covered in garlic and other spices. Seriously, best breakfast potatoes I have ever had. Yeah, I could talk about food all day. :)

Other than eating, we have been trying to explore the parks that are downtown. About a block away from our apartment, there is a very tiny off-leash dog park that we decided to take Vega to on Saturday. I don't think it was her first choice in parks, but we were able to get some good pictures.

Cody on top of a stone thing. I'm not sure what it is, but it was a good place to take some pictures.

Vega watching the people on top of the stone thing with Cody.

We thought this was a pretty cool painting they have in the dog park.

After the park we walked down to the Olympic Sculpture Park. It was pretty cool to walk through. It is right next to The Puget Sound, so there are some really awesome views.

Beautiful day. It was actually sunny and warm. :)

An awesome picture of the Space Needle.

Vega and I in front of one of the sculptures.

This was cool, but I have no idea what it is. I'm so not arty.

And...

Some statues in the fountains.

Of course Vega found a stick to carry around.

This was a cool design thing on the wall, with some metal sidewalks.

Here is a better angle.

Is this art, or did someone just leave their umbrella? :)

Vega looking longingly into the water. Unfortunately, she wasn't allowed to go swimming.

Cody and Vega playing tug 'o war with her stick.

Vega trying to check out the view.

Big, dark art...

And finally...This is art. :)

It was a pretty tiring walk, but very entertaining. We went to bed at a decent time, but then at 3 am, we were woken up by the fire alarm going off. It was very disorientating being woken up so suddenly and trying to figure out what was going on. We threw on some shoes and coats, grabbed the leash and headed outside. Poor Vega was so confused, she was just staring at us with her tail between her legs and her eyes so wide. When we got out of the building, the firemen were already there, and about five minutes later they gave the okay to go back in. Apparently there was nothing to worry about. Unfortunately, being woken up like that makes it very hard to fall back asleep. After a few hours, we were finally calmed down enough to go back to bed. Other reason we are so excited to be in a house. :) That's what has been going on with us for the last little while.
