Sunny Weekend!

This weekend was beautiful, sunny, and cold! We woke up on Saturday to no clouds and beautiful blue skies. It was such a clear day that we could actually see a mountain that I didn't even know was there. It kind of looks like a cloud in the sky.

We decided to try out another off-leash dog park called Westcrest Park. It was a cool place and not too overcrowded. It is located in West Seattle, so it was about a 15 minute drive from downtown. There was an open area for the dogs to just run around and then there was an actual trail you could walk on with trees on both sides that blocked the wind. With the wind and the humidity, it dropped the temperature so it felt like it was way below freezing. Both Cody and I had on undershirts, T-shirts, a hoodie, a jacket, and a hat and we were still cold.

Cody and I at Westcrest Park trying to stay warm.

I felt like I was in the middle of a forest!

Here is Cody in the "forest" too.

Vega wouldn't stop to even take a drink of water, she was having so much fun. This is the one picture I got when she actually sat for a second.

On Sunday, we decided to go visit Pike's Place and check out the vendors. It was another sunny day, but much warmer. It was still a little windy, but nothing like Saturday.

In the middle of Pike's Place. Yes, it was very crowded, as usual.

On the outside of Pike's Place enjoying the view.

It was a great weekend with lots of sun, even if it was cold. We just get a little confused when it's so cold and there isn't any snow.

Marymoor Park

On Saturday we signed the lease! Yay!  We drove to a part of Seattle called Northgate, and they have an awesome looking mall that we will have to explore one day.  But we had to hurry back to the house because Cody was doing his first maintenance "thingy" for Microsoft.  He could work from home, so while Cody worked, I got hooked on Grey's Anatomy.  I just finished season one, and I LOVE it!  Cody learned a lot while doing the maintenance thing, and actually had fun while working.  Saturday night was so windy and rainy, that we didn't really want to go out in that horrible weather, so we took it easy and relaxed at our apartment.

Vega is all ready to go out in the rain with my rain boots.

Then, on Sunday, we decided to go and try out a park in Redmond that we have heard good things about called Marymoor Park.  It is a HUGE park with everything you could ever want.  It has trails and hiking for both walking and bikes, plus soccer fields and an off-leash dog area.  Vega was so happy and excited when we got there, and she didn't even know what it was.  She was doing her excited whiny thing she does in the car and when we finally let her off the leash, she ran and barked her happy excited bark at us.  It was pretty funny.

Here is Cody trying to help Vega find a stick.

Cody had to break the stick we found in half because it was too big, and if you know Vega, she does not like it when you break her sticks, so she was barking and yelling at Cody while he was breaking it in half.

The off-leash part wasn't super huge for the people to walk around and go hike or anything, but it was plenty big for the dogs, plus there were lots of places for the doggies to go swimming, which Vega loves to do.

Vega with her stick swimming back to us.

Vega was so happy to be out of the city for a minute.

I was a little slow with the camera, but usually whenever Cody was trying to throw the stick for Vega, he would get surrounded by other dogs wanting to get the stick too.

Apparently in Washington, sticks get so water-logged that they sink.  We didn't realize that they were sinking right away, and poor Vega would swim back and forth trying to find the stick.  She went all away across the river before we had to call her back.  She was so determined to find her stick. After we would call her back over to us, she would look at us and then jump back in the water to try and find it again.  That's when we decided it might be time to leave, just so that she would give up and rest. Silly Vega.

So, that was our weekend.  We will try and get more pictures of some things other than Vega.  ;)

Good news...

So, we have been pretty busy trying to find a permanent home for us, so we haven't been able to do much exploring, which is why I haven't updated the blog for a little while.  :)  Anyway, the good news...we found a place!  It's a really cute house in a neighborhood of Seattle called Wallingford.  It's about a five minute drive to downtown Seattle.  We had a really hard time trying to decide if we wanted to stay in an apartment right downtown or try and find a house.  After looking and talking, we decided that we really wanted some sort of yard for Vega.  It hasn't been so hard to take her out while staying in this apartment, but we figured if we could find something with a fenced yard, we would take it.  Also, our other problem was trying to find a place to fit all of our things.  We got rid of a lot of things before we moved, but we still have a lot of crap!  This house has all the room that we should need.  It's still smaller than we are use to, but it will still work perfectly.  We can't move in until March 31, but that is one less stress.  Now on the weekends we can go and explore.

A few weekends ago, we went to this area in Seattle called Green Lake.  There is a path around the lake that is a little over three miles around.  We took the dog and got a few pictures.

Green Lake.  I know, it's weird that it was raining.  :)

Vega had to check out the water.  She wanted to go swim after the ducks, but she wasn't allowed.

Vega and I out on one of the many docks they had at the lake.

Squirrel!

These are just some of the trees that surround the lake.

It was a very fun day, and we had to squeeze that walk in between our house hunting.   Because of the house hunting we haven't done too much of anything else.  Hopefully that will change and we can go see some cool stuff this weekend.  :)

This was just a really cool picture from our apartment window.

This is Cody being artistic.  I love this picture!

And finally, a big thank you to Jami, my sister-in-law, for getting this toy for Vega before we moved.  She has loved it and it has been good for her to have a toy, because they packed up all her toys in the move.  Thanks, Jami!!

There are so many parks around here that we really want to go check out, so my next post hopefully won't take as long.  :)
