6 Months

Our little man is now six months old...eeek! I can't believe how fast time is going. As I keep saying, I get so torn, because I want him to gain weight, learn new things and advance to the next stages, but at the same time I get so sad when he does do all these things. :) I have the weirdest emotions when he does something new, such as I get super excited and happy and then super sentimental. As Cody would say, "women are weird." :) Anyway, we had our 6 month check up for Hunter on the 25th. He weighed in at 12 pounds 11 ounces and is now 25.5 inches long. He is still in the 5th percentile for weight, but finally made it to the 10th percentile for height and head. Yay! He had to get three shots, the first shot he didn't even notice, he was too busy playing with his binkie clip, the second shot he cried for a minute, but the third shot he started screaming and crying big ol' sad tears. Totally broke my heart. He calmed down very quickly and I was able to snuggle with him out to the car. He fell asleep on the way home and we transferred him to his swing, where he took a very long nap. Because we weren't able to preemptively give him some infants Tylenol right when we got home, he woke up with a very loud scream. Cody tried to keep him calm while I grabbed the meds, and we switched off holding and snuggling him until the drugs kicked in. We knew the moment they started working, because he went back to him normal happy, smiley, squealing self. :)

Hunter has now tried rice cereal, sweet potatoes, and green beans. We have also started giving him a sippy cup with water. He has liked them all very much, but he mainly just thinks his sippy cup is a new toy. :) I am so excited to keep trying new foods with him.

First time he had rice cereal.

First time Hunter tried sweet potatoes.

Silly, messy, little boy!

Hunter is also now become a master of rolling over from his belly to his back. Nothing can contain him for tummy time anymore. I have tried putting him on the Boppy on his belly, and usually after a minute or two, he ends up like this...

or this...

The other day he figured out how to get completely off the Boppy. I was actually able to catch it on video.  Such a silly dude he is!

He still hasn't mastered rolling from his back to his belly, but he has done it before, he is just a little lazy.  We have been practicing sitting up, and with the help of the Boppy, he sits pretty well.
And he does the tripod sit, or as Cody calls it his monkey pose, where he leans on his arms. But when he does stay like that for a prolonged period, we never think to grab the camera, and when we do finally reach for it, he gets distracted and falls over.  So unfortunately we don't have a picture of him sitting in his monkey pose.

Hunter has been so much fun and Cody, Vega, and I absolutely adore him.  :)  I really do enjoy watching him grow and starting to see his personality come through.

Love this little man!!

A Utah "Getaway"

Hunter and I took a vacation to Utah in the beginning of June. We stayed for almost two weeks, and we got to see a lot of people, it was wonderful. The flight to Utah was fantastic. It was right around Hunter's morning nap time, so he fell asleep as soon as the plane took off, and slept for half the flight. He was very happy when he woke up and loved to look out the window. Thankfully, it was a very easy first flight with just myself and Hunter. :) My mom and step-dad picked us up at baggage claim to help me with my bags and then we were off to Logan. Hunter slept again through most of the drive, and was very pleasant for the rest of the day. Unfortunately, the next few days he was a bit fussy, I think because he was somewhere new and different. He did calm down and was much happier after a day or two. :) One of Hunter's first visitors was "Aunt" Molly, his Godmother. We didn't plan it this way, but she happened to be in town visiting family before she started her residency in Minneapolis. We were super happy! :)

Me, Molly, and Hunter.  We didn't even plan that we were all in matching clothes!  :)
Hunter chillin' with Molly.

We went to lunch the following day with Molly as well, and Hunter wanted to see what food Molly was eating.

The next few days consisted of my mom, Hunter, and I going out to eat, shopping, and pretty much just hanging out. It was very fun and relaxing. My mother had purchased a little play gym for Hunter to play in while we were there because she knew how much he loved his at home. It was a little smaller than what he was use to, but he still loved it. But somehow, he would kick one of the sides and it would fall over. He never cried, in fact he would get really quiet until we realized it had tipped over, and when we pulled it up, he would give me a great big grin. Silly boy!

At my mother in laws house, she pulled out one of Cody's old toys from when he was a baby for Hunter to play with. He loved it, just like his daddy. :)

One day we went and ate at Firehouse, one of my Logan favorites, and had lunch with my mom and grandma. Hunter was very well behaved, and really sleepy, so he ended up falling asleep on my shoulder while I ate.

My cousin got married, Congrats Kendon & Misty, and before we left for the reception, my mom wanted to get some photos of Hunter and I out in the yard...and the hot, hot sun! :)

Then it was off to the reception. It was so great to see everyone, and Hunter was very good with people handing him off so they could hold him. It was starting to cool down outside, and I think Hunter very much enjoyed the coolness of the evening. He was a very happy baby. :)

My dad, Grandpa Z, and Nana were also able to come visit Hunter and I while we were in town.

Even tho I saw a lot of my family at the wedding, we were lucky enough to see them again a few days later at my mom's house. :) Everyone got more turns snuggling the little dude. Including my cousin Easton and Bryson.

We had been in Utah for a week, and there were still so many favorite places to eat! :) So one morning we went out to breakfast at Angie's, and it was Hunter's first Angie's experience. He was having lots of fun and really wanted to eat my food...

We also decided to try a new place that opened a little while ago in Logan, called Kabuki. It is BenniHanna style where they cook in front of you on a big table. It was very entertaining and yummy!

 Anna and I being silly.

Mamas and kiddos.

The day we were leaving for Salt Lake was a warm day, and that morning Hunter was hot and very cuddly. He must have known that we were getting ready to leave his grandma's and grandpa's and aunts and uncles and cousins.

Anna was very sweet, and even let Hunter cuddle and take a nap with her blankie.

We left for Salt Lake that afternoon and stayed at Jami's that night so we could get up bright and early for our flight back to Seattle.

Jami getting in one last snuggle before leaving...

The flight back wasn't as easy the flight coming to Salt Lake, but we made it. We had been delayed an hour, on the plane, so Hunter took his nap before the plane had even taken off. Towards the end he was getting very done with vacation. :) After we landed, we went to baggage claim where Cody was meeting us, and as he walked up to us, a very sleepy Hunter looked up from the carrier, saw his daddy, and gave a very happy, huge grin. Hunter had missed his daddy very much. It was too cute! It was so wonderful to see everyone, and I wished I had been able to see more people, however, we weren't able to squeeze everything in this visit. Hopefully next time!
