A Very Hungry Caterpillar 1st Birthday

Since Hunter was such a surprise for Christmas last year, and we were able to have family around to see him when he was born, we were very lucky to be able to have his first birthday around family as well, since everyone was visiting for Christmas.  :)  On Hunter's actual birthday, the 22nd of December, 2012, we didn't do too much, but we did give him one present to open.  He was way more interested in the wrapping paper than the actual present!

We decided to wait until after all the Christmas festivities to have his birthday party.  It was nothing too fancy, but I did want to have a theme and invitations, but that was more for me than for Hunter.  ;)  I did decide on A Very Hungry Caterpillar theme, since Hunter loves the book.

Thanks to my sister-in-law, Jami, she pointed me in the right direction with Pinterest and some very cute and simple ideas in decorating.  She helped a lot with putting it all together, and my mother-in-law let us use her house to hold the party so everyone could some celebrate Hunter's 1st birthday with us!  :)

We hung balloons over the table to make a Very Hungry Caterpillar.

"Happy Birthday, Hunter"

A cupcake caterpillar body and mini cake for the caterpillar head.  :)  And fruit cookies with "bites" taken out of them by the caterpillar.

I had so much fun making the cake, helping set things up and having Hunter open his presents.  I'm so thankful that we were able be in Utah so that so many of our family were able to come and celebrate Hunter's special day.  Thanks to everyone for their help and love in this wonderful celebration of our sweet little man!!
